Kenyatta University woodball coach Titus Mboya believes his team is in the right in their quest to clinch the Kenya Woodball Federation title.
KU beat Mount Kenya University and Jomo Kenyatta University of Science and Technology over the weekend to leave Mboya bubbling with confidence.
He said they just need to polish their mistakes going forward.
“I am very proud of my teams for their performances, both men and women. We are really looking forward to the MMUST tournament,” said Mboya.
Over the weekend, Alex Mugendi and Felista Mucheri produced the least strokes as they ended a three-match losing streak.
“MKU has won the last three weekends but this time we got lucky,” added Mobya, who is also the national woodball coach.
He observed that he is also using the league action in preparations for the Kenya International Woodball Championships set for Masinde Muliro University of Science and Technology on November 11-13.
The tournament has attracted teams from Kenya, Uganda and Tanzania including Kenya's USIU, Kibabii, MMUST and TUM; Teso, Prisons and Bankbif from Uganda as well as Amani from Tanzania.
Mboya added they are also going to field a university select side.
Meanwhile, Mboya has lamented about the numerous challenges they are going through in their quest to give the game traction in the country.
“We are currently sharing equipment but someday I wish to see every player with his or her own equipment," he said, adding that even organising leagues and tournaments has become an expensive undertaking.
“We need cash for medals, trophies and t-shirts but no one seems to come to our aid," he concluded.
