Coach urges Ulinzi to punch above their weight in the league

Former national champions Ulinzi Warriors' coach Bernard Mufutu believes his charges still have a lot of work to do if they are to regain past glory. 

Speaking after their hard fought 68-64 overtime win over Strathmore University Blades,  the tactician called for consistency among the soldiers.

“We still have a lot of work to do but we are taking it a game at a time. Whether we win or lose, we are learning some lessons from each match,” said Mufutu.

He went on to add, “From the matches played so far,  it is clear we need to work on our consistency.”

The two giants were deadlocked 56-56 in a dramatic top-of-the-pick tie at the Nyayo National Stadium gymnasium before the soldiers dug deep to bag the maximum points.

KPA, who surprisingly lost to ANU, moved to third place with nine points having played five games.

Reigning women champions KPA who remain unbeaten occupy the top spot with 10 points from five matches in the women's category.

Maurice Obilo’s Zetech University Sparks who spiked Equity Bank Hawks are in second place with a similar number of points. The bankers are on two losses and lie third after playing six games. They have bagged ten points.

USIU, who returned to the league after the two-year break, are currently top in men's Division One with 10 points.

 Snipers and Kenya College of Accountancy (KCA) University complete the top three positions in the cadre. KCA University lead Zetech University Development and Strathmore University Swords in women's Division 1.
