Unforced errors cost us against Nairobi Water, says NCPB's Odhiambo

Odhiambo said the result was not anything close to what he wanted due to the quality in his side.

In Summary

• Half of the team has new young players and so I expected that their agility and speed will give us a cutting edge but unfortunately, that was not the case — Odhiambo.

• NCPB will feature in the 2019 East and Central Africa Championships set for Rwanda next month should they get the go-ahead by the management.

National Cereal and Produce Board coach Davis Odhiambo believes numerous mistakes were to blame for their 30-21 loss to Nairobi Water Queens at the Kaloleni grounds yesterday.

Odhiambo said the result was not anything close to what he wanted due to the quality in his side.

"I did not expect such a result. Half of the team has new young players and so I expected that their agility and speed will give us a cutting edge but unfortunately, that was not the case, " said Odhiambo.

The tactician said they lacked speed and confidence, in addition to not utilising the chances they made. However, he showed confidence in his charges' ability to put up a better performance in their forthcoming matches.

"Nairobi Water capitalised on our mistakes. We began very well but lost our grip halfway through. Not maximising on our chances cost us a great deal," said Odhiambo. "I also fielded some players in new positions and I think that also affected our play. But moving forward I know we will be in better shape."

NCPB will feature in the 2019 East and Central Africa Championships set for Rwanda next month should they get the go-ahead by the management.

"We will get more time in our training as we work on minimising the mistakes. I am confident that the new recruits will adapt to my systems in time. We hope to put up a good performance in Rwanda come next month," he concluded.
