The clash between Mean Machine and Strathmore Leos will be the highlight of Match Day 2 of the KRU Championship tomorrow. The game will be played at the University of Nairobi grounds as from 4 pm.

The two sides, which were relegated from Kenya Cup last season, recorded mixed results with Machine losing narrowly 18-17 to  South Coast Pirates and Leos beating debutants Northern Suburbs 31-7.

Elsewhere, there will be no love lost when Eldoret (UoE) RFC host the University of Eldoret. “Eldoret are a good side. I have seen them play and some of their players joined our team. It will be an exciting match,” said UoE coach Kelvin Otieno.

His Eldoret counterpart David Wachie also promised an entertaining match.

“We are the home team but the match will be played at UoE. Derbies are always cagey affairs but this one will be entertaining. We want to build on the win against USIU and we must remain grounded,” said Wachie. Eldoret RFC last weekend upset USIU 18-17 while UoE defeated Kisii 26-3.

Kisii will seek to bounce back from last weekend's defeat when they host Egerton University at Gusii Stadium. Egerton lost their opening game 11-18 against promotion favourites Masinde Murilo University of Science and Technology.

MMUST, coached by veteran Ochieng Ahaya, will be at home against USIU in a match expected to be very explosive.

Last year's semi-finalists, Catholic Monks host South Coast Pirates at the Catholic University of East Africa in Langata as Northern Suburbs seek their first win of the season against Mombasa RFC.
