Ben Juma has resigned as the Kenya Volleyball Federation (KVF) beach commission chairman.

Juma was serving his second term, which was supposed to end in 2022. Juma attributed his resignation to lack of sufficient time to serve the sport and work commitment at his place of work.

A letter addressed to KVF chairman Waithaka Kioni read in part: “Please allow me to thank you and the National Executive Committee for good leadership exhibited in our sport and on the same note I wish to request that you accept my resignation as the commission chairman.

"Well, after careful review and with a clear  understanding of how beach volleyball must be managed, I foresee a situation where  I might not give enough time to this sport which I passionately like and admire.”

He said: “I am currently constrained with other pressing issues that are likely to eat into my time and as you know, the sport needs a lot of sacrifice and commitment. In this regard, I think my move to resign is only fair to the sport that played a major role in moulding my career.

Juma said the move should also be a wake-up call to people who stick in the positions merely for the sake of titles when in the real sense they can’t deliver.

“ This is a challenge to other people that if they are not able to deliver in their respective position, they should give room to other people,” said Juma
