Prisons, who are drawn in Pool ‘D’ won against Asec of Cote d’ Ivoire 3-0 (25-12,25-13,28-8) while Pipeline overwhelmed their East African counterparts Rwanda Revenue Authority 3-0 (25-19, 25-19, 25-15) in Pool ‘C’.
The 2013 champions Prisons will now line up against neighbours Nkumba of Uganda in their second match today while Pipeline who are the African bronze medalist have a rest day today before they come up against hosts shooting tomorrow.
In the match against RRA, Pipeline coach Margaret Indakala gave a start to rookie Gladys Ekaru who was paired alongside captain and regular Triza Atuka in the centre position.
Experienced Jannet Wanja was named in the setting department as Naomi Too and Sharon Chepchumba who crossed over to Pipeline from Prisons did duty in the left attacking position.
Esther Wangeci took charge of the right attacking position as Agrippina Kundu was drafted as the libero.
The other Kenyan representatives KCB who won their first match of Pool ‘ B’ against DGSP of Congo 3-0 (25-14, 25-12, 25-17) on Saturday had a rest day on Sunday and face hosts Sporting on Tuesday.
