In women’s volleyball, title holders Asumbi had to dig deep to beat Migori TTC 3-1 (25-18, 25-16, 18-25, 15-10).

Asumbi thrashed Nyanchwa 57-2 in the opening game of the women’s netball.

Last year, Asumbi won all the 12 titles on offer during the regionals and the games coordinator Peter Nani says they are targeting to retain their titles this year.

“The possibility of retaining our titles is high because no team has lost any game in the preliminaries. That is a clear indication that we are headed to the semis and finals. We have good teams that will go ahead and win national titles,” said Nani.

The games will conclude tomorrow (Friday).

Winners will represent Nyanza region at the nationals to be held at Meru Teachers Training College in Eastern region as March 31 to April 5, according to Kenya Teachers’ Training Colleges Sports Association Nyanza secretary Lucas Okinda.
