Kiambu County basketball team yesterday beat Machakos County 41- 24 points yesterday at Gretsa University in Thika in the ongoing Kenya Inter-counties and County Assemblies sports.

Kiambu

team leader Vincent Karumba grabbed 10 points while captain Duncan Ojijo gave the team 18 points. Simon Karanja added 13 points.

The win came after they were beaten by Kilifi, Bungoma and Nairobi respectively

last year, to emerge fourth in the games held in Uasin Gishu County.

“From the beginning last season we didn’t perform well. Our team was beaten and we only managed

fourth. But we pulled together and have worked hard since,” Karumba said.

“This team is amazing. We believe we will proceed to the East Africa Local Authorities Sports and Cultural Association (Ealasca) Games in November this year,” said County Sports cabinet executive member Machel Waikenda.

Karumba said, ‘ we shot 68 percent and we maximized every shot opportunity during the final wrap because we have now become tough, disciplined, defensive.
