Bahati and his wife Diana Marua were turned away a number of times while looking for a house.

One of the places where doors were closed was Kiambu.

The couple said some landlords were afraid that being a young couple they would come with baggage such as noise pollution.

Others felt they could not afford the houses.

"After two days we were told they could not give us the house because we could not afford [it] and we would be bringing parties in the house given our age," Diana said.

They were narrating their experience to fellow celebrity couple Wa Jesus.

Bahati said the landlords felt that adding a personal touch to their houses would ruin them.

In February, the couple gave a tour of their four-bedroom, fully furnished house in Kamakis said to have cost Sh27.5 million.

Bahati said the house was Diana's dream home

"This is your gift you can be proud of it and be proud that you own it. I know you have been waiting for so long and I know you are not expecting this but you are now a proud owner of this mansion and it's fully furnished,” he said.

Diana said she was flown to the house in a chopper and it was the perfect gift

"My king Bahati, I am overwhelmed with joy, with gratitude. I still don't have words to explain how I feel. Thank you for giving us the best, a whole palace. I am the happiest woman on earth right now!" she wrote.

At the time, fans were sceptical about the authenticity of the gift, terming it a marketing strategy.
