'Nairobi Half Life' actor Oti is dead

Olwenya Maina, aka Otis from 'Nairobi Half Life', died on Monday morning.

The famous actor is best known for his memorable portrayal of ‘Oti’, the reckless and fearless leader of the gang in the 2012 Kenyan TV-series, 'Nairobi Half Life'.

Olwenya is also remembered by the Radio Africa family as the voice-over artiste for Kiswahili radio station Radio Jambo.

He was the voice of some intros on 'Patanisho', 'Nyahunyo' and 'Tano kali' segments and client promos.

Olwenya also acted in 'Taliya' and 'Poacher'.

Comedian Churchill said the creative industry had lost a gem. "Amazingly talented. Truly loved."

Maina Kageni said the entire industry will miss the talent. "Among the very best voices in East Africa.... Great actor, superb talent!"

Radio Jambo's Mbusi said he was impactful to their career.
