• He brought together first, second, third and the current generation of rappers in EP
Hip hop scholar Kesi Mohamed, popularly known as Kaa La Moto, says his album 'Kesi' is East Africa's bestseller.
Speaking to Word Is last week, the legendary Kenyan rapper said people have listened to it so much that it has gone viral.
"I even got into trouble with KRA because the money was too much, but I was selling hard copies in the streets," he said.
The rapper brought together first, second, third and the current generation of rappers in the album.
"I would jet out the copies to South Africa, Tanzania, Uganda, Texas, Brooklyn, New Jersey and many other places."
He is currently working on a project with Khaligraph Jones, whom he says thinks likes him.
"Khaligraph and I are good brothers, we are fans to each other. We linked up in studio and did a couple of freestyles," Kaa said.
He described the 'Mazishi' hitmaker as the best MCee currently in East Africa. "He is a versatile rapper compared to me, I am strictly on the African culture, our stories."
And what about the new crop of hip hop music?
"We are growing because new things are being brought around and new styles are being seen. But we have a lot to learn."
Kaa La Moto now manages three artistes who are working hand in hand Mombasa-based Kubwa studios.
