Celebrity volleyball player Janet Wanja is now a taken woman. Wanja, known for bringing sexy back to the sport, spoke to Word Is about romance and her private wedding.

Wanja got engaged to beau Andrew Sayerman in December 2013 and jumped the broom on May 3 at the Dinham Resort Garden, Tigoni. The couple said their 'I dos' in front of an intimate gathering of 100 guests.

"It was a very private and simple event. I did not want pressure. There are those who are angry at this decision yet these are people who don't even have my phone number. I wanted this to be about us," Wanja said. "There are some who are not talking to me. The same people I have never even talked for two years."

So how did she manage to keep it all hush hush? "I was vague about the dates and kept radio silence on social media," she said.

"My close friends, my brother Kevin Kimani and my teammates played a big role in helping me organise the wedding because I was at camp in Tunisia. I landed back in the country on a Wednesday at 5pm and that Saturday was the wedding day. I only had two days to finalise everything. I have to say their support went a long way in ensuring that the day was a success and it ran smoothly. I did not have any pressure at all. "

Speaking about her hubby, Wanja said: "He was always there for me. Our relationship was on and off but he always stuck by me and had my back. I can say he loved me for who I was. I got to the point where I decided to stop pushing away people God has brought into my life for my own good. Thus, I decided to give the relationship another try and he is a really nice guy."

So how is married life? "It is not any different apart from the fact that I'm now a Mrs. That said, marriage is about how you are treating each other, before he does anything he consults me and I do the same. It feels good to be called Mrs."

Any date set for when are we going to hear the pitter patter of little feet? Laughing, Wanja said, "Not yet, I'm still playing volleyball."

Any words for her heartbroken male fans? "That is funny because nowadays most men are going after married women because they don't want anyone who will pressure them."

The couple had their honeymoon in Zanzibar.
