YouTube may make watching videos in 4K quality exclusive to premium subscribers.

This is according to users across Reddit and Twitter who over the weekend noted that YouTube has been asking them to upgrade to premium to enjoy videos in 4K.

YouTube Premium is a monthly paid subscription that goes for Sh 1200.

Users of premium get to enjoy ad-free viewing, and video and song downloads for offline watching, users can also play videos while using other apps.

It is however unclear if this is part of YouTube’s limited test.

It said that the user might have been a part of the company’s “experiment to know better the feature preferences of Premium and non-Premium users.

When asked for comment, a YouTube spokesperson told Android Police that it had nothing to share at this time.
