WhatsApp recently published a ‘critical’ vulnerability that was patched in new and older versions of the application in both iOS and Android.
The details of the bugs were disclosed in a September update of WhatsApp’s page on security advisories affecting the app and came to light on September 23.
These vulnerabilities are a matter of concern for those who do not update their WhatsApp apps frequently.
We all know people who slack on the updates (perhaps you’re one of them).
Missing out on the latest features is fine, but leaving yourself open to security attacks is not.
According to WhatsApp, once those security walls are down, these bad actors can then install and run their own code onto your smartphone in what is known as “remote code execution.”
If you have not updated your WhatsApp recently, now is the time to do so, otherwise, your security is at risk.
And while you are at it, remind your parents not to answer strange video calls or open unknown files or videos.
