The FilmAid Film Festival 2019 Gala Awards were held at the Sankara Hotel on September 6. This year, with the support of Bureau of Population,  Refugee and Migration, UNHCR-Kenya and the International Labour Organization, FilmAid showcased numerous untold stories from authentic refugee voices and engaged audiences into action. This year’s theme was ‘Inclusion, Strength and Diversity’.

Among the award winners were Balu Wol Makuachi from Sudan, who scooped the Best Actor Award for the movie ‘Broken Ties’, Best Actress for the movie ‘The Bill’ Lisa Selenga from DRC, Best Cinematographer Ngalimo Hassan (Sudan) and Best Student Fiction Award winner Catherine Nakiir (Sudan) for the movie ‘The Bill’.
