An evening reception aboard Indian Navy Ship INS Kolkata was held at the Mbaraki Wharf in Mombasa to commemorate the good relationship between India and Kenya.

It was the first time the warship was calling at the port of Mombasa.

Indian High Commissioner Suchitra Durai said there is a renewed interest in strengthening defence relations between the two nations.

Indian commander of the Western Fleet, Rear Admiral Ravneet Singh, said the visit by the Indian Navy is part of their role in improving maritime and diplomatic relations with Kenya.

The ship offered an opportunity for the Kenya Navy officials and invited school goers to tour it.

Present at the reception were Coast regional commissioner Nelson Marwa, Lamu Governor Issa Timamy, Mombasa county Sports Executive Mohamed Abbas and Shipping PS Nancy Karigithu.
