Serena Nairobi was the venue for the announcement of the new partnership between two of Kenya's strong television brands.

Kenya Television Network (Standard Group) announced the acquisition of 50 per cent stake in Lancia Digital Broadcasting (Bamba Tv). The turn of events will see approximately Sh 1Billion invested to ensure customers continue to enjoy more than 30 channels previously only accessible on pay TV.

"We witness the realisation of a dream that we at Radio Africa have waited for a long time. Kenya's media is coming together to develop a single approach to meeting consumer needs in our market," Group CEO Patrick Quarcoo said during the breakfast launch.

His counterpart at Standard Group Sam Shollei added that, "We will also create a diversity of content and give Kenyan producers an opportunity to build and launch their own channels on Bamba Tv."

Joining senior management from both media houses in attendance, were ICT cabinet secretary Joe Mucheru and Communication Authority chairman Ngene Gituku.
