Chinese smartphone manufacturer Huawei's latest flagship, the Huawei P9 with variants P9 Lite and P9 Plus have no doubt taken the tech world by storm.
Primarily because it is the first device with a dual lens camera system that gives crisper, sharper images.
The system makes it a front runner for multiple accolades at tech award forums to be held in the last quarter of this year and early next year, more so because the firm has partnered with renowned camera maker Leica which has been in the business more than a century.
Add that to the fact that the diminutive smartphone (5.2 inch screen as opposed to the 5.7 - 6 inch standard) with its 32 GB internal storage shoots in RAW format and it is easily a favorite among photographers who want more control over their devices with smartphone photography.
The small size which is not as noticeable and in some instances is altogether a non-issue is more than compensated for by the sheer speed and performance of the device that runs on an octacore processor.
The first four cores clock a processor speed of 2.5 GHz with the second set of four working at a maximum 1.8 GHz.
With that kind of capacity, the phone performs optimally with everything happening faster from app functions to browsing on either broadband or WiFi.
Surprisingly for a smartphone powered by a 3000 mAh battery, the Huawei P9 does drain power significantly faster than most handsets, and this is its major drawback.
But that is the norm with most smartphones running the Android 6.0 Marshmallow version, which though power efficient, runs complex apps that in turn consume power in the periphery.
