Set along Waiyaki way on the seventh floor of a business tower along Waiyaki Way Nairobi, Honey & Dough promises a modern gourmet cafe experience.

Honey & Dough is an international multi-cuisine cafe that is vegan, gluten-free and vegetarian friendly.

The ambience is pretty chilled with industrial lights surrounding the ceilings all around.

The ceiling has hanging wooden structures that resemble honeycombs, giving life to the cafes name.

It has elegant wooden, pink, marble and summer vibes with simple, muted tones.

The dining area has plush seating and excellent views.

They also have a cute bookshelf adjacent to the entrance stocked with little reads to keep one entertained during their visit as well as a really instagramable wall with an edgy neon sign.

The cafe also has a Grab and Dough bar (cute wordplay) that serves easy bites, smoothies and hot drinks with convenience.

On arrival, there's a hostess right before the entrance who greets and inquires whether you have reservations or the type of table that you'd like.

Then she directs you accordingly. I’d highly recommend advance reservations. walk-ins are allowed, but it does get really busy especially on weekends.

Their walls are pure glass, which seems to be the vibe going around the city with new eateries.

The glass enables ample natural lighting, air circulation and beautiful views of the city

For lunch, I had chicken schnitzel with garlic mashed potatoes, mushroom sauce and steamed vegetables. As well as a barbecue chicken wrap served with spicy fries, garden salad and a dipping sauce.

The chicken schnitzel was the highlight of my day.

It is crunchy on the outside and tender on the inside, well-salted and not soaked in spices.

The chicken taste is very present and the coating really carries the trophy.

Instead of using bread crumbs to coat the chicken, the chef uses panko (a Japanese coating made from bread baked by an electrical current which yields bread without crust. Which is then grinned to create fine slivers of crumb.)

Panko is flakier, lower in calories, crunchier, absorbs less oil and adds depth to the flavour.

Schnitzel is a quintessential German dish, meat is thinned by pounding, seasoned with only salt sriracha sauce and pepper then coated with breadcrumbs and deep-fried.

The mashed potatoes were finger-licking good, so soft buttery and well spiced.

They were topped with shallow fried sliced garlic pieces and coriander which gave them a distinct twist in flavour.

To top it all, was the mushroom sauce. That sauce deserves all the food accolades present. Its consistency was perfect and the mushrooms were not overcooked.

The barbecue chicken wrap was juicy and well stuffed although the shell the stuffing was laid on was a little tough.

The fries were crunchy, well-salted, spiced and went really well with the dipping sauce.

Actually, the dipping sauce married nicely with everything on the plate.

The salads presented were fresh and perfectly crunchy, I'm a big fan of broccoli so I enjoyed everything on my plate.

The cafe has an impressive drinks menu, both alcoholic and non-alcoholic.

They have an exclusive gin bar (a first in Nairobi) with a skilled mixologist who cheerfully whips up cocktails and signature drinks for clients.

On the plus side, Honey & Dough offers all-day breakfast dining.

I know I'm not the only one who occasionally enjoys breakfast at noon.

They open daily from 9 am t0 11 pm and offer delivery services for their meals.

Do let me know in the comment section what you like most about the establishment or your experience once you get to visit them.
