Colour blocking is a way of using contrasting blocks, especially colours that are opposite of the colour wheel and pairing them together to make an interesting and complementary colour that is so refreshing.

Colour blocking was not only popular in the ’60s and ’80s but it has now come back with a boom.

This look is not the easiest to pull off and to be a pro you must be able to do it without looking ridiculous.

Following these tips will help ease the problem of blocking:

1. Choose your colour scheme.

You can choose the complementary method that involves using colours that are directly opposite each other in the colour wheel.

If you are not a very colourful, bold and daring person you should not try this as the colours can be heavy.

Another way is basically using colours that are next to each other in the colour wheel.

2. Get the approach you want.

Select one colour and decide to use darker or lighter shades of it together.

In this approach, you can use three or more shades of colour, but you must ensure that the colours blend together.

3. Complete the block

The best way to ensure this is achieved is by pairing it with neutral colours like black or grey.

A successful colour blocking scheme, should not outdo the doer, ensure that you as the wearer you are also noticed

4. Jewellery

A good fashionista needs to be keen on jewellery if you choose to go all the way with colour's ensure they also match with the outfit.

Jewellery complement the look.

Big jewellery makes a statement, dainty jewellery gives that subtle look.

Use the same shade or matching shade with the outfit.

Handbags should have neutral colour or at least match with the shoes to add to that classic look.

5. Use contrasting tones

This is if you are an adventurous person, for example, you can choose colours from opposite ends of the rainbow.

Say, blue with orange, yellow and purple, orange and green, red and pink. And have fun creating your look.

Don't tell your friends you have nothing to wear! let's do this!
