Comedian cum activist Eric Omondi has flown to London for lunch a day after Trade Cabinet Secretary Moses Kuria said he regrets sponsoring his first ever tour to the United States.

In a video on his social media on board a plane, Omondi said he had flown out to prove a point to Kuria.

"After hearing Moses Kuria speak, I decided to take myself to London just for lunch and also thank God for how far he has brought us," he said.

The comedian has, however, expressed gratitude to the CS for sponsoring his trip seven years ago but asked him not to tax the youth.

Omondi, who has been on the forefront in opposing the Finance Bill 2023, has asked Kuria to oppose the Bill which proposes to tax creatives 15 per cent on their proceeds.

He said should Kuria oppose the Bill, content creators will not have to pay the 15 per cent tax and will therefore afford to fund their own trips.

"Thank you Kuria for sponsoring my tour seven years ago but please don’t tax content creators 15 per cent so that they are able to fund their own trips,” he said.

On Wednesday during a debate on Citizen TV, Kuria slammed Omondi for criticising the government over the proposed Bill.

He said he regretted sponsoring the comic to the US seven years ago and that he should have instead used the money for fun.

"I heard Eric saying he’s still young. Seven years ago, I took my money and paid for him to go to America so that he could see how the world is. Now, the way he’s talking, I would have rather used that money to party,” Kuria said.
