Kanduyi MP Wafula Wamunyinyi has said that Ford Kenya’s move to support DP William Ruto will not interfere with Azimio la Umoja votes in Western.

Speaking to youths at his Ranje residence on Friday, he urged them to vote for Raila Odinga.

He said Ford Kenya was not a Luhya party and its leader Moses Wetang'ula cannot convince the Bungoma people to elect him.

Wamunyinyi said he was a loyal supporter of Ford Kenya and backed Wetang’ula for many years.

He said DAP-K has taken the lead in the Western region and it’s the fastest-growing party in the county.

Wamunyinyi who is the DAP-K leader said the party has fielded over 1,500 candidates in the country and it has strategies to ensure it outshines other old parties.

He said DAK-P went into a pact with the Azimio la Umoja coalition and it will be considered if Raila wins.

“Some rivals from other political affiliations are spreading propaganda that DAP-K cannot negotiate on the high table. As the party leader, I am firmly in all ongoing deals,” Wamunyinyi said.

The MP said he is part of the Azimio la Umoja team and if Raila wins, he will have the power to negotiate for the Western region.

He said Raila Odinga is the best person to succeed President Uhuru Kenyatta who has been at the forefront in fighting for Kenyan rights.

“Raila doesn't have bad records, therefore, let's rally behind his bid and make him the president. He is experienced enough,” The MP said.

He said ODM won’t field a governor candidate in Bungoma and instead the Azimio la Umoja will back Governor Wycliffe Wangamati on the DAP-K ticket.

Wamunyinyi said he has delivered to his constituents and Kanduyi is not equal to other small constituencies.

He recounted why the BBI failed and said Kanduyi needs to be partitioned so that resources can be shared equally with the residents.

“I have tried and therefore people should stop criticising my job but back my re-election,” he said.

He said that DAP-K has fielded Bungoma deputy governor Charles Ngome to battle with Wetang’ula in the senator race.

“The main aim of clearing Ngome is we want Wetang’ula home,” the MP said.

However, Wamunyinyi urged Wetang’ula and Senate speaker Ken Lusaka to pass the sugar bill in the Senate to relieve farmers.

“I am the only MP from this region who presented the sugar bill before the floor of the house to help my farmers back home,” Wamunyinyi said.
