Kabuchai MP Majimbo Kalasinga on Saturday blamed President Uhuru Kenyatta and Azimio la Umoja presidential candidate Raila Odinga for the high food prices.
Speaking at Nagwe in Kabuchai, Majimbo said that since President Kenyatta and Raila Odinga went into handshake life has become unbearable for Kenyans.
“Before Ruto was kicked out of the government the economy was good but immediately Raila went in life has become very hard,” Majimbo said.
Majimbo added that the maize price has never gone beyond Sh200 in the country.
“Since Kenya attained its independence it’s only during Uhuru’s regime that food prices have been hiked to this level,” he said.
The Ford Kenya MP asked the Western region to rally behind Ruto’s presidential bid, saying the region won’t back Raila after supporting him for many years.
The MP also urged Bungoma residents to rally behind Lusaka’s gubernatorial bid in the August polls.
“Let’s vote for Lusaka because during his regime he was able to initiate projects that benefit the residents, we want every Kenyan to reap from devolution,” Majimbo said.
He asked Lusaka to use the county bursary kitty fairly to support all students from primary schools to universities if he wins.
“All students should be supported to get an education even if they have scored below average marks,” Majimbo said.
Majimbo claimed that his rivals have been spreading propaganda that Ford Kenya leader Moses Wetang'ula is supporting another candidate for the Kabuchai MP seat.
"I have talked to my party leader today and he dismissed any rumours of backing someone else to replace me," he said.
