Bumula MP Mwambu Mabonga has said he is ready to battle with DAP-K aspirant Jack Wamboka in the August 9 polls.

Mabonga was in 2017 elected as an independent candidate but joined Ruto's camp to seek re-election.

Speaking to journalists on Saturday at Royal Hotel in Bungoma town, he said his track record speaks for itself saying that he has nobody to topple him from the MP position.

"When I took over Bumula it was in a sorry state. Now after reviving it some few individuals want to come with fake promises that they will improve it," Mabonga said.

He spoke after receiving over 80 defectors from Wamboka's team within the constituency.

Mabonga urged Western region to rally behind Ruto's presidential bid, adding that President Uhuru Kenyatta is panicking after the hustler nation received key leaders from Mt Kenya.

"The truth of the matter is that President Uhuru Kenyatta has accepted that Raila won't defeat Ruto in the August polls. Mt Kenya is firmly behind DP Ruto," he said.

He said his rival Wamboka had no agenda to tell Bumula residents; instead his work is to criticise him.

"If someone has an agenda that he will really change the face of Bumula than what I have done then he is lying," he said.

He affirmed that if re-elected he will focus more on education and construction of the roads within the constituency.

"The five years I have been in power and your MP I have built schools, administrators' offices and lifted small businessmen and women," he said, adding that he was awarded the best MP in the entire Western region.

He said through the bottom- up economic model the hustler government will set aside Sh100 million that will be channeled to the constituencies to help small business operators, arguing that the Uwezo and youth funds are not enough for the big population in the country.

Wamboka is supported by Defencse CS Eugene Wamalwa.
