A panel of experts appointed by Health CS Sicily Kariuki to probe the ability of the national insurer to fund the Universal Health Coverage found that it cannot sustain the national government project.

It said the Fund will start making loses next year. The panel recommended major reforms at the National Health Insurance Fund to prepare it for the national rollout of the project next year.

The government should oversee the insurer’s operations to ensure there are no leaks through which funds can be lost to salvage the project meant to be a game-changer in the sector.
