Wetang'ula holds bilateral talks with Turkish envoy

He promised to deepen the Kenya-Turkish ties, to enhance trade

Speaker Moses Wetangula held talks with the Turkish ambassador to Kenya Subutay Yuksel on Tuesday. 

Speaking at his office, Wetangula promised to deepen the Kenya-Turkish ties, to enhance trade between the partnering countries.

“We are keen to expand our bilateral engagements with Kenya. We are happy that we are doing well so far and would wish to explore more areas of engagements,” Yuksel said.

The relations dating back to the 10th Parliament, has benefited the two nations especially on the Parliamentary diplomacy through the Proactive Parliamentary Friendship Group.

The Caucus was born under the leadership of chairperson of Defence and Foreign Relations Committee Adan Keynan during the 10th Parliament.

The group has been active throughout the 11th and 12th Parliaments.

"The 10th Parliament saw a milestone in the establishment of a Parliamentary caucus between our two legislatures, to enhance the parliamentary relations,” Wetang’ula said.

“Turkey and Kenya have a long great history."

Wetang'ula said the friendship will enable its members to benchmark and exchange knowledge and ideas that will eventually prosper their institutions.
