Deputy President Rigathi Gachagua has gifted Limuru Girls High School Sh1 million as they celebrated their centenary anniversary.

He gave the magnanimous gift of Sh1 million for a party after he attended the school's centenary anniversary on Saturday.

The institution is marking 100 years since its establishment.

"Let me plan the party for the girls so they may eat chicken and chapatis. Do you like soda?  Which soda do you like?" Gachagua asked the learners.

"Let me look for Sh1 million to leave to the school principal for a party for these beautiful students. So that they may feel uncle Willy( President William Ruto) was around."

He went ahead to wish the learners all the best in their studies, adding that they will be women of substance.

"You will come and join this country and join us in national development in serious professions. You are people who are equal to the task," he said.

President William Ruto, Kikuyu MP Kimani Ichungwa and Education Cabinet Secretary Ezekiel Machogu were among the other leaders who attended the Limuru girls’ secondary school centenary celebration.

This is not the first time the Deputy President is dishing out such a generous gift to learners to hold a party.

On Friday, he gifted Mukurwe-ini Technical Training Institute students Sh500,000  for a party.

Gachagua had visited the school for an alumni meeting and gave the money for what he called a "midterm bash".

"Before I leave, isn't there a midterm coming up? I must organise a bash...For the boys I leave Sh500,000, for the teachers here I will give Sh200,000 and for the subordinate staff Sh100,000," he said.

Two months ago, he also gifted his former high school, Kianyaga Boys in Kirinyaga County a whooping Sh800,000, for a party.
