Joseph Ole Napeiyan is the new regional police commander of the Eastern region.

Napeiyan has been moved to the region’s headquarters, Embu, in the National Police Service’s latest changes.

The outgoing Machakos county police commander assumed his new office on May 9.

He is yet to hand over the Machakos office to his successor.

“Kindly note that I have been moved once again on new deployment as regional commander Eastern, currently at Embu headquarters,” Napeiyan told the Star by phone on Friday.

His predecessor Rono Bunei has been moved to the Kenya Police Service Headquarters, Vigilance House, Nairobi as the new director of personnel.

Napeiyan took over as the Machakos county police commander early this year after the then county cops’ boss Issa Mohammud was moved to the regional office as the assistant commander.

Mohammud who has since deputized Bunei is still the Eastern regional deputy police commander.

Napeiyan served as the Makueni county police boss for several years before he was moved to Machakos.
