Some Jubilee leaders allied to retired President Uhuru Kenyatta are now pointing an accusing finger at President William Ruto for being behind the current party squabbles.

Party vice chair David Murathe claimed Ruto was fuelling the infighting as revenge for being kicked out of the party.

He cited the recent deployment of a contingent of security officers to the party offices after one group led by EALA MP Kanini Kega attempted to storm it.

“Msidanganywe, hii vita sio ya Kioni na Kanini Kega, hii kuna mtu ako na haja sana kwa sababu tulimfukuza yeye kutoka chama ya Jubilee sasa anataka kutuonyesha kwa sababu ako mamlakani anataka kulipiza kisasi...hii ni utoto,” he said.

(This is not a fight between Kioni and Kega...someone whom we chased from Jubilee is trying to revenge because he is now in authority.)

“We have left them to continue, we gave them a chance because they said they had a plan but they have failed and it appears they are still on campaigns.”

Ruto, then deputy president, was kicked out of Jubilee as a deputy party leader after years of strained relations with Uhuru during an NDC at KICC in February 2022 some months before the general election.

This was after he started popularising his UDA political outfit.

New officials were then named during the meeting attended by Uhuru.

Party secretary general Jeremiah Kioni shared similar sentiment saying Ruto was out to wreck the party for his own interests.

“Those who are in government offices now are behind these woes and they are stirring it,” he said.

Former CAS Rachel Shebesh weighed in on the matter saying it was unfortunate that the government was now draining guns on Uhuru instead of delivering to the people.
