Speaker of the National Assembly Moses Wetang'ula will be the chief guest during the Annual Journalism Excellence Awards (AJEA).

He is expected to give the keynote address at the event which is to be held at Safari Park Hotel, Nairobi on Thursday evening.

“Join us for a jamboree as we toast to Kenya’s top journalist at this year’s Annual Journalism Excellence Awards,” the Media Council of Kenya said.

The awards have been given to journalists since 2012 for print, broadcast, and now digital journalism.

AJEA has demonstrated its commitment to shining light on critical issues that shape Kenyan society and the media landscape.

Through the awards, the media has helped inform and trigger debates, nurture dialogue, and advance understanding of the defining challenges of current times.

The awards are a continuous annual recognition and celebration of journalistic excellence and achievement in Kenya.

The awards culminate in a gala dinner organised to showcase stories and writers who have upheld professionalism in the media industry during the past year.
