The Orange Democratic Movement has confirmed that Raila Odinga's security teams have been withdrawn.

ODM said the move came with an order from the government.

"The Ruto government has ordered the immediate withdrawal of security details of party leader Raila Odinga," the party said on Twitter on Tuesday.

It was not just Raila's security personnel that were withdrawn, but also those of Narc-Kenya party leader Martha Karua and  Wiper party leader Kalonzo Musyoka.

"Martha Karua and Kalonzo Musyoka together with those of other elected leaders in Azimio la Umoja One Kenya Coalition were also affected by the security withdrawal," the party said.

This morning, police bodyguards to Raila were recalled.

Their commander sent a random message to all police officers attached to VIPs from the coalition ordering them to report to the Security of Government Building offices and return their weapons.

This is seen as a strategy by security officers to stop the affected leaders from joining the street protests.

The guards offer round-the-clock protection for all elected MPs, senators, Governors and their deputies.

“To all officers whose VIPs will participate in tomorrow's demonstration (Maandamano) you are advised not to accompany them (VIPs) on the same, instead you are supposed to report to U/Camp, return your firearms at the SGB armoury and be on standby at the Unit Headquarters as you await for onward communication,” read the message to the officers.
