The Kenya National Highways Authority has warned motorists driving or planning to use the Nairobi - Mai Mahiu - Narok Highway of an ongoing clearance of the overburden after the morning heavy rainfall.
The rains have resulted in flooding and extensive deposition of eroded material on the road from Mai Mahiu towards Narok and 6KM from Duka Moja.
"To enable better traffic flow, KeNHA urges motorists to avoid Ngong - Suswa road and use Narok - Kisiriri - Nakuru Road and Mai Mahiu - Nakuru Road, reads a statement on Saturday.
As a result, the authority has advised motorists to exercise caution as they drive through this area, especially at night and when it’s raining.
Motorists have also been urged to follow instructions to avoid getting stuck in the mud deposits.
However, Kenha has deployed various teams to assist motorists to drive safely through the area.
"This is expected to continue for the rest of the day. We will continue issuing regular updates to make your travels safe and without incidents, says Kenha.
