Kisii governor Simba Arati has assured President William Ruto that he will talk to his party leader Raila Odinga over demonstrations.

Speaking during the homecoming ceremony of Education CS Ezekiel Machogu in Kisii, Arati said the talk will be purely to enhance peace and develop the country.

"I will talk to Raila about the planned demos, we need to build our country and have a peaceful nation," he said.

Arati narrated that he had mentioned to the President that had Raila won, the Kenya Kwanza coalition would have also gone to the streets.

"When I talked to the President, he said they were in opposition during the handshake and they never went to the streets, I saw the light," he added.

The first-time governor also said the people of Kisii will not go to the streets for protests as there is enough food in the county.

"Sisi hatutavaa sufuria kichwani, tumewacha watu wakona njaa Nairobi wabebe," he said.

(We will not put Sufurias on our heads, we have enough food in Kisii, that one we leave it to the people of Nairobi to participate)

He also urged the protestors to have peaceful demonstrations because destroying properties is a setback to the country's development.

"I urge the protestors to participate in peaceful demos. So many countries are also demonstrating but peacefully," he added.

"Don't destroy the properties of others."
