Kindiki said on Tuesday as  Matiang'i appeared before the DCI offices along Kiambu Road, rowdy people who claimed to be his supporters converged at the security facility and caused a commotion.

"Going forward, any person regardless of their rank in society who threatens to forcibly access security facilities or intimidate officers on duty will be dealt with firmly, ruthlessly, and decisively in accordance with the law," he warned.

He said the incident was regrettable and termed it a smack of gross impunity.

"Some politicians, ostensibly going to provide political solidarity to Matiang’i caused disturbances including threats to mobilise people to forcibly access the DCI headquarters. This is a smack of gross impunity," he said.

Azimio chief Raila Odinga confronted a police officer who barred him from entering the premises on Tuesday.

He questioned why he was being barred from entering a public office.

“This is a public office; you want me to order these people to go in by force? This is a public office, I cannot be ordered not to see the director,” Raila said.

Kindiki said DCI headquarters, police stations and all other security establishments and facilities must be respected by all persons including politicians, their supporters and sympathizers.

He said respect for the law, constitutional organs, independent offices and the protection of security facilities from political and other extraneous interferences apply to all without exemption.
