Kakamega Senator Boni Khalwale has said the move by some ODM MPs to visit President William Ruto at State House was an imitation of what ODM leader Raila Odinga does.

Khalwale opined that the MPs are Raila's children and that they are only following what Raila has been doing in the previous regimes.

He said in the previous regimes, Raila has been cooperating with the ruling parties and that the nine MPs moved to cooperate as he has.

"When Raila goes for cooperation with Moi, then he goes for nusu mkate with Kibaki, then he goes for the handshake to Uhuru, what is wrong with his children learning that it is just a matter of time before Baba does what he normally does and they do it ahead of him," Khalwale said.

Speaking at an interview on Tuesday, the Senator said the MPs who went to see Ruto can only lose their seats if they resign.

"If you want to force them to resign, they must be deemed to have resigned. Go to court and demonstrate that they have been deemed to have resigned," he said.

He said the MPs cannot be harassed into resignation, yet they were doing what their father has been doing.

He said no law stops the MPs from meeting the President at State House.

"If ODM MPs had met President Ruto in Sugoi, it might have been something to fuss about. State House is a public institution," he said.
