Most parts of the country are likely to remain generally sunny and dry, the latest forecast by the weatherman shows.

According to the forecast released on Monday, hot and dry weather is expected to persist in all parts of the country with the weatherman warning that Kenyans should take plenty of water.

“Stay hydrated. Drink plenty of water and avoid outdoor activities during the hottest part of the day,” the seven days forecast covering the period from February 14 to February 20 warns.

According to the forecast, Kenyans should expect daytime maximum temperatures to remain higher than average over much of the country.

“Average daytime (maximum) temperatures are likely to be high (more than 30°C) over most parts of the country,” the forecast says.

The average minimum temperatures during the night on the other hand are expected to be less than 10°C in several parts of the Highlands East of the Rift Valley.

Traditionally, January and February are dry months.

However, the country is grappling with drought following four failed rain seasons and poorly distributed 2022 short rain season.

The drought has pushed millions into hunger and killed millions of livestock, especially among the pastoralist communities to whom the animals are an economic mainstay.
