Kisumu county government has given out notice to hotels, Guest Houses and Lodging rooms within the city to address issues of bedbugs, rodents and mosquitoes in their premises.
City manager Abala Wanga said the Department of Public Health conducted a rapid assessment and found that there is an increase of insects and pests in the rooms.
"Take notice that under the provisions of Public Health Act Cap 242 and regulations made thereunder, the premises which are mentioned above and are situated within the City of Kisumu are operating under insanitary conditions" read the notice.
The city manager noted that in pursuance to section 119 of the Public Health Act, the city department of public health was not satisfied with the existence of the nuisance on the premises.
He urged them to take note and find ways to contain the insects and make the rooms more conducive.
