- Sifuna opined that all that the lawyer is helping Chebukati to do is spend his retirement money after exiting the commission.
Nairobi Senator Edwin Sifuna has said that nothing will come from the legal venture of lawyer Steve Ogolla representing retired IEBC chairman Wafula Chebukati against Azimio Chief Raila Odinga.
Sifuna took to Twitter on Wednesday saying that "save for legal fees, nothing else will come from that legal adventure".
"All Steve Ogolla is doing is what lawyers do best. Helping Chebukati spend that hefty retirement package he received from the taxpayer," the Senator said.
This comes after city lawyer Steve Ogolla issued a demand letter to Raila asking for the release of video footage of the former chairman's visit to his home within seven days.
Ogolla threatened to sue Raila, on behalf of Chebukati, over his statement during the Sunday Jacaranda rally where he claimed that Chebukati and former Commissioners Abdi Guliye and Boya Molu visited his home before the General elections.
The Azimio chief also claimed the commissioners asked him for something small and that he has proof of it.
Chebukati however denied the claims by Raila.
"In the circumstances of your allegations, and in the context of our client's strong rebuttal thereto, our instructions are to demand from you, as of right, which we hereby do, to be furnished with the alleged video footage within seven days from the date hereof," the letter reads.
If the seven-day period is given to Raila to provide the video footage lapses without him doing so, Ogolla will move to take legal action against him.
