Kabuchai MP Majimbo Kalasinga has said Education CS Ezekiel Machogu should be the first to appear before the National Assembly to answer to MPs.

Speaking at an interview with K24 on Tuesday, Kalasinga said Machogu should appear in parliament to answer questions on CBC.

"Machogu should be the first customer as we open Parliament next week and tell us about the CBC system," Kalasinga said.

The legislator went ahead to thank President William Ruto for allowing MPs to question CSs.

"I want to thank the President of the Republic of Kenya for allowing his cabinet secretaries to come to Parliament, on the floor of the House and answer questions," Kalasinga said.

He said the CBC system has a lot of deviancies pointing out that the teachers being posted to junior secondary schools are few as each will get only one teacher.

The MP opined that there will be confusion between the primary schools and the JSS domiciled therein.

"When the bell rings for the first lesson,  which class is it informing or do we have two bells one for the JSS and one for the primary schools. This will be confusing," he said.

CSs will start answering to MPs after the National Assembly started the process of amending the Standing Orders to allow cabinet secretaries access to the House.

Ruto had asked Parliament to review its laws to open up the House for CSs to respond to questions by MPs.

National Assembly Speaker Moses Wetang'ula also supported the move and set the ball rolling to review the Standing Orders to implement Ruto's proposal.
