The Kenya National Commission on Human Rights has commenced an inquest into a series of killings that have rocked Kisii county in the recent past.

“The public inquiry that will run for the next six days will focus on special interest groups such as the elderly persons and children,” the KNCHR said in a tweet.

Just last week, a man was arrested for the brutal killing of two children in Nyamache.

The two children were found with machete cuts to the neck and the heads in the heinous act that send chills in the village.

The children's mother had already left for the farm when the father swung the machete on their necks.

They were aged 10 months and two and a half years respectively.

In a similar incident, A 61-year-old man surrendered to Kisii county police after confessing to killing his stepson in the Igonga area of Bonchari seven days ago.

The county has also witnessed the killing of elderly persons over alleged witchcraft.

In 2021, four people were lynched and burnt to death after being accused of witchcraft in Bomokana village in Kitutu Chache.

The four were accused of being behind the bewitching of a high school student.
