A farewell party has been planned for the exiting IEBC chairperson Wafula Chebukati and the two other commissioners Boya Molu and Abdi Guliye.

Their term in office officially comes to an end on January 27 bringing the curtains down for the officials appointed six years ago by retired president Uhuru Kenyatta.

The dinner, as per the invite seen, will be preceded by the launch of the 2022 post-election evaluation report at Safari park in Nairobi.

All the IEBC staff from across the country have been invited to the event where Chebukati is expected to deliver his address.

“We have all been invited to the evening gala, the outgoing chair and the commissioners are the main speakers and will issue their remarks during the event,” an official said.

The commission started conducting the assessment of the 2022 general election in November last year.

Article 88(4) (h) of the Constitution obligates the Commission to facilitate the observation, monitoring and evaluation of elections.

It is through that it established a Technical Working Group to collect views from stakeholders and staff from across on the conduct of the poll.

The committee had a specific mandate of preparing a draft report that incorporated experiences from the 47 counties before it was subjected to an approval process by the commission.
