Political thinker Peter Kagwanja has said Rwandan President Paul Kagame should not condemn refugees from Congo, yet he is allowing in his country refugees from France.

He said we need to deconstruct the state in this region and the EA citizenship.

Kagwanja spoke on Wednesday during an interview with KTN.

"Kagame is able to deal with refugees from other parts of the world, yet he cannot handle a small problem of refugees from Congo," he said.

Kagwanja said the move to include Congo as part of the EAC community was a master stroke in region building.

He also said countries ought to deal with their issues as a regional community and not alone.

"We need to bring Somalia into the EAC so that we deal with the refuge question as a problem of EA, not as a problem of Somalia, Kenya or Ethiopia,"Kagwanja said.

He added that Congo ought not to deal with the refugees alone.

This follows Kagame's threat to evict thousands of Congolese refugees being hosted in his country.

Kagame claimed the international community has continued to blame Rwanda for the conflict in the eastern DR Congo.

According to VOA, Kagame said they cannot continue sheltering the refugees while at the same time being abused.

"We cannot continue hosting the refugees for which we are later on held accountable in some way or even abused about as a result of ethnic cleansing based in another country," Kagame has been quoted.
