Meet police constable who understands thrill of hockey

Police Constable Willis Okeyo has showcased his talent both locally and internationally.

In 2018, he was a top scorer in the Kenya Hockey Premier League.

He has also engaged in elite international leagues in Germany and Bangladesh.

Okeyo was a nominated member of the Africa Hockey Athletes Committee where he chaperoned the Kenya Hockey Team to the Africa Cup of Nations in Ismailia in Egypt and Africa Olympic Qualifiers in South Africa.

He has played for various hockey teams including Red White Munich, Babkreuznach, Vfb Stuttgart, and Mariners Hockey Team in Bangladesh.

In a statement on Friday, the National Police Service described him as a person who understands the thrill of hockey.

"Sports is a language spoken by all and one person who understands the thrill of hockey is Police Constable Willis Okeyo," the statement read.

Okeyo has been a coach and captain of the National Police Service Hockey team and is described as an excellent midfielder.

"He has been using his sporting opportunities to cultivate good relations between the community and police and mentoring the youths to stay off crime," NPS said.
