Four more police officers from the disbanded DCI Special Services Unit (SSU) were on Wednesday arrested in connection to the abduction of the two Indians and their Kenyan taxi driver on the night of July 23.

The arrest brings to 12, the total number of officers arrested. Officials said the four will be arraigned at Kahawa law court on December 1.

Earlier, there was drama after attempts to escort eight other officers in custody for DNA extraction failed.

This was after they refused to go for the exercise on advice of their defence lawyers.

The court had previously ordered DNA test to be conducted at DCI labs. It was, however, established that the facility does not have facilities for the exercise.

When the investigation team went to pick them for the samples at Government Chemists, they refused and said a court must order so.

All the officers at the unit were sent on a 30-day compulsory leave after SSU disbandment and are expected to report to the DCI headquarters in December for deployment and administrative action.

Already, nine officers from the same unit have been arraigned but the detectives requested for more time to detain them as they complete investigations.

Police plan to charge them with a crime of abduction and conspiracy to commit a felony.

IAU detectives have maintained that the officers are linked to the forceful disappearance of the missing Indians—Mohammed Said Sami and Zulfiqar Ahmed.

The Indians are alleged to have travelled to Kenya during the election period and were working with a digital media team allied to President William Ruto.

"There is need to conduct further investigations and gather more confirmatory evidence to unearth more details to determine the involvement or otherwise of the nine officers on the disappearance of the victims herein," IAU says.

The IAU detectives have further said that during interrogations so far conducted, it was demonstrated to them by way of technology that they were at the scene of crime, and at the Aberdare National Park where the three victims are believed to have been taken to after their alleged abduction at Ole Sereni hotel.

The motor vehicles and mobile phones have been tracked and is assisting the officers investigating the matter.

They are on a silent go slow to protest the probe in the police force, which they see as politically motivated.

Two other civilians who had been arrested over the issue are out on bond.
