President William Ruto has assured the residents of Kerio Valley that his government will take decisive measures to ensure security and peace in the region. 

Speaking during an Interdenominational thanksgiving service at Kabarnet ASK Showground in Baringo County, Ruto said that the government is determined to end cattle rustling.

"We will ensure this region is peaceful, we want our children to go to school and the people to focus on meaningful economic activities," he said.

During campaigns, Ruto promised to deploy enough security officers to end banditry in the Kerio Valley if he was elected president.

He condemned the killings of residents and theft of livestock in parts of the North Rift, saying it would be a thing of the past.

The President also asked leaders from the region to shun divisive politics and work together to serve the interests of the people.

He added that his administration will partner with the private sector to construct dams to help with farming in the area.

"By partnering with others, it will ensure the country achieves its food security ambitions and create wealth for the people through farming," he said.
