Two suspected burglars were killed Sunday night at Nyamokenye in Bonchari, Kisii County.

The bodies were found tied on electric poles.

Their identities were, however, not immediately established.

Nyumba Kumi officials said the two were busted with stolen goods before they were lynched.

"An assortment of stolen items found in their possession appears to have angered the public who went ahead to lynch them," said Elijah Nyamweya, the Nyumba Kumi official.

Among items recovered were gas cylinders and television sets suspected to have been stolen from various homes in Kisii town.

The bodies were taken to Kisii Teaching and Referral Hospital morgue.

Police in Bonchari say they have launched investigations into the killings.
