Multiple Formula One champion Lewis Hamilton has sent an uplifting message to double Olympic marathon champion and world record holder Eliud Kipchoge ahead of the Berlin race on Sunday.

Hamilton said in a pre-recorded video message that he was well aware of the enormous task awaiting Kipchoge on the streets of the German capital.

“I just wanted to send you a message wishing you all the best in all your future endeavours. I know you have a huge target coming up at the Berlin Marathon, I will be watching closely,” Hamilton said.

Hamilton showered Kipchoge with praise, saying he admired his unmatched ability to break the glass ceilings.

“I am inspired by how you continue to push and show that there are no limits except the ones we put in our minds. Keep dreaming big, keep pushing, good luck and I wish you all the best,” Hamilton said.

Kipchoge will be returning to Berlin Marathon for the first in four years.

“I want to run a good race. A good race is a good race. It is a race where everyone races while happy.

Kipchoge aims to break the world record (2:01.39) he set in 2018.

“If I run and I end up breaking the course record, then it will be a good race,” he stated.

A win will hand him a fourth Berlin Marathon title, effectively equalling the feat already achieved by Ethiopian icon Haile Gebrselassie (2006, 2007, 2008 and 2009).
