Bobi Wine, Kizza in the country to monitor Tuesday's poll

IGAD had deployed 24 election observers in 10 counties.

 Ugandan singer cum politician, Robert Kyagulanyi alias name Bobi Wine is in Kenya to monitor Tuesday's polls.

Bobi Wine of the National Unity Platform and Kizza Besigye of the Forum for Democratic Change (FDC)are in the country to be part of election observers in the country.

"As part of our mission to observe the #KenyaDecides2022 this Tuesday, I was glad to meet and interact with Presidential Candidate Raila Odinga. Another part of our team met with candidate William Ruto. Wishing the great people of Kenya a free, fair, credible and peaceful election," Bobi wrote on his Twitter.

Uganda's National Unity Platform and FDC leaders are among other international teams who arrived in the country for the observer mission.

IGAD had deployed 24 election observers in 10 counties ahead of Tuesday's general election.

The observers will be dispatched to Nairobi, Machakos, Uasin Gishu, Kajiado, Nakuru, Kisumu, Kisii, Kakamega, Nyeri and Mombasa counties.

The team drawn from six IGAD member states arrived in the country on Tuesday last week for training prior to their deployment.

Former Tanzanian President Jakaya Kikwete led the East African Community Election Observer Mission in the August 9 election.

“Our mandate to observe elections in partner states is governed by the Treaty for the Establishment of the East African Community and the EAC Principles for the Observation and Evaluation of Elections,” Kikwete said at the Serena Hotel, Nairobi.

The African Union (AU) and the COMESA on August 6 launched their joint election observation mission for the upcoming poll.

The Joint Mission was led by the former President of Sierra Leone, Ernest Bai Koroma.

"The objectives of the Mission are to assess the conduct of the 2022 General Elections as part of the AU-COMESA broad mandates to promote democracy and democratic elections in Africa in line with their overall vision of a peaceful, prosperous and integrated Africa,"Koroma said during the launch.

Kenyans are set to elect members of the county assembly, women representatives, county bosses, members of parliament, and the president among other elective seats.
