An overwhelming majority of Kenyans believe that communities should be actively consulted before establishing facilities like the Laikipia Ebola Centre, according to a recent GeoPoll survey released on June third.
The data reveals that 86 per cent of respondents definitely favour public consultation, while an additional seven per cent somewhat agree.
In contrast, only five per cent opposed the idea, and two per cent remained unsure.
These findings highlight a strong public desire for transparency and civic engagement in health sector decisions.
However, this popular sentiment directly clashes with official policy positions.
Health Cabinet Secretary Aden Duale explicitly stated that public consultation is not required for outbreak prevention measures.
