The Global Peace Index (GPI) 2025 ranks Iceland as the world's most peaceful country, boasting a score of 1.212. This ranking is determined by Safety and Security metrics, where lower scores indicate a more peaceful society.

Iceland is closely followed by Norway (1.261) and Finland (1.269), securing the top three spots for global tranquillity.

The rest of the top five includes Japan (1.292) and Singapore (1.294).

The GPI measures how free a society is from violence, fear, and instability. A country's peace ranking improves when there are positive shifts, such as perceived reductions in criminality and political terror, which result in a lower overall GPI score.

The data suggests that the Nordic countries, along with key Asian nations, continue to be global leaders in maintaining high levels of societal safety and security.
